Although the coronavirus (COVID-19) has forced many of us into a period that at times, is filled with much alienation, financial instability, and a lack of fresh air, the eight-time Grammy nominated singer, Avril Lavigne wants to remind everyone of the hidden strength that we all have with the release of her re-recorded single, We Are Warriors.
The previous version of the song titled, Warriors, was originally from her sixth studio album ‘Head Above Water’ (February 2019), and was met with high praise from critics and fans alike. The song explored the singer’s personal struggles with Lyme disease, and served as a positive reminder that things can always change and get better.
The new track however, which was released via BMG, is a re-recording of the previous version, and re-touches upon facing adversity, and finding the support and strength needed to overcome it. And with the most recent pandemic that has affected the global economy, perhaps now more than ever, a positive anthem is just what we need in our lives.
Also, to further support the fight against COVID-19, The Avril Lavigne Foundation has recently partnered with Project HOPE, a world wide health organization determined to provide resources to local health care professionals who are currently on the frontlines of the COVID-19 outbreak. All proceeds from sales and streams of We Are Warriors and its accompanying video, will help Project HOPE’s ongoing COVID-19 relief efforts around the world.
