The fashion designer Sandy Liang releases her first collaboration with skate shoe giant, Vans for a limited-edition collection of footwear, apparel and accessories. The collection includes 13 pieces apparel and accessories assortment perfectly encapsulates 90’s nostalgia through the use of marbled colorways, butterfly iconography and bejeweled detailing. 

Each item in Liang’s collection, which reinterprets five Vans styles, is like a work of mashup art pulling threads from Liang’s and Vans’ histories. The ’90s-infused, unisex range includes a fuzzy leopard-print version of Vans’ iconic Slip-On, as well as chain and gem-adorned velvet iterations of the Authentic. A halter top featuring a gemstone butterfly is a nostalgic nod to early-aughts aesthetics while a pink jumpsuit with silver studs down the side is sure to become an instant favorite. Accessories including a chain-decorated fanny pack and Sherpa crossbody put a twist on classic styles. The collection which ranges the price from $14 to $200.

About Sandy Liang:                                        New York City native Liang started her label after graduating from Parsons in 2013. Inspired by grandmothers in Chinatown where her father runs a restaurant, she tapped her own grandma to model on her website, wearing Liang’s signature oversized coats, including a black patent leather jacket trimmed with white shearling that retails for $2,400. Vogue and Elle have covered her designs and she sells in more than 50 stores worldwide including Nordstrom and Saks.
