As we continue to get updates on COVED-19, it is normal to feel a bit of fear and despair but important to remember to stay positive! When looking at the positive side of this, it is clear that the world is coming together as one and with the help of different companies and individuals we can bring some good into the equation!
Onzie is doing their part by using their recycled material to create hand-made masks to keep our community safe. The brand is donating 3,000 masks (and counting!) to local Los Angeles hospitals (UCLA Nursing Dept/Martin Luther King Hospital) for our frontline medical professional heroes. Health care workers across the country are grappling with the challenges of personal protective equipment like masks, which are in short supply and the need for them is climbing.
Due to the shortage of face masks globally, the CDC has now published that the use of DIY facemasks as a “crisis response” option for healthcare workers who cannot access official gear is a viable alternative. Although these DIY masks are not medical grade, they can help by blocking saliva/particle transmission or as a cover for the one time use masks being used by healthcare workers. Onzie is partnering with their factories and warehouses to produce these protection masks and hopes they can help medical and front-line workers who are risking their lives to help people during these trying times. They also have the capacity to make 10,000 – 20,000 and hope to help the Los Angeles Mayor’s call out to bring forward 5 million masks.
