The debate of side parts and skinny jeans is still ongoing, but there are several things that you absolutely need to look and feel your best this summer. Summer is all about looking and feeling cool – literally and metaphorically. Effortless and breezy styles are always the most envied because you look so chic, but like you didn’t even try. Here’s how you pull that off.
Stay Shady
The perfect pair of sunglasses set the tone for the rest of your look. With so many online trying sites out there, it’s easy to upload a photo or video of yourself onto the site and virtually try on frames. Once you decide on the perfect shape for you, you can narrow down your search. There are so many options to choose from, whether you’re looking for designer sunglasses or working with a tighter budget. Whichever way you go, make sure you select a statement-making pair that makes you feel confident.
Cover-Ups
With everything finally opening back up, we’re all going to be out this summer in full force. Beaches are an excellent place to flock for so many reasons, not the least of which are the much-needed vitamin d boost and the ability to work on our summer tans. Cover-ups never go out of style, and if you’re spending a lot of time out in the sun, it’s a good idea to give your skin a bit of added protection for some of that time. Almost every major fashion brand has a selection of them these days, so check out your favorite brands and select one or two to add to your wardrobe.
Oversized Hats
The statement-making headwear is still having its colossal moment. The reason is these hats look amazing on virtually everyone. If you already have one, great, buy another one. But, if you don’t yet own one, you need to add it to your arsenal. Major bonus points for hats because almost all dermatologists agree it’s one of the most important things you can do to protect your delicate facial skin while you’re spending time outside under those potentially damaging UV rays.
SPF
Speaking of dermatology, nothing gives you confidence like healthy glowing skin. One of the easiest ways to keep our skin looking its best this summer is not skimping on the SPF. If you’re wearing makeup, it’s easy to get that SPF through our pre-makeup moisturizer. If you’re going bare-faced, make sure to swab on some SPF to your face before heading out the door. Also, if you’re spending consecutive hours outdoors, it’s important to reapply your SPF every two to three hours, especially during peak times of day (noon to 3:00 pm).
Hydration!
Nothing says radiance, like supple, dewy, moisturized skin. While a lot of this comes from the products we use, another massive factor in achieving this look is hydration from consuming water. They say eight glasses of water a day is a minimum. You’re going to need even more if you step up your activity levels in the summer, as many people do. Add to that, spending time under the sun or in the salty beach air; you need to really make sure you stay hydrated. They even make “one and done” water bottles that have your daily recommended amount in one bottle with encouraging remarks written on them to help make sure you consume all you’re supposed to.
Baby, Be a Firework!
Maybe it’s because we’re all celebrating making it through a year in lockdown and effective vaccines, rolling out, but sparkles and sequins are where it’s at this summer! From bedazzled bikinis to glittery dresses and sandals, you want to really shine as you step back out into society. There are so many fun ways to add this to your wardrobe, so go with one that feels most comfortable for you. If you’re not 100% comfortable with this trend, you can achieve the same effect with metallics, so go with that instead.
The most important thing we can all do, though, to keep our summer vibes perfect is to stay safe. So, continue to follow local and federal guidelines about getting back out there and living as “normally” as we can at the moment.
