Matthew Bourne’s renowned “Swan Lake” opened at the Ahmanson Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, December 5. Carrying the quintessential elements that have transcended “Swan Lake” through decades, Matthew Bourne has created a thrilling take on the classic. The show begins before even stepping foot in the theatre. Themed drinks can be acquired at the outdoor and indoor bar and holiday decorations light up the entire Music Center creating the perfect pre-ballet ambiance.
Prepare to have a whole spectrum of emotions felt from charmed to scared to heartbroken with perfectly timed comic relief diffused throughout the whole production. The set and lighting design made a breathtaking statement on its own, adding a breadth of dimension to the already poignant performances. We’d give you a more in depth play by play but you’re just going to have to make the trip to the theatre yourself.
