Curator Paints has made its West Coast debut. 144 colors inspired by the creative work of 29 Irish artists and designers.

I am not saying that I absolutely love Curator Paints’ color palette inspired by Ireland because myself according to my recent Ancestry DNA test happens to be 15% Irish, but their chic warm and subtle colors with some bold accents are just perfection. You cannot go wrong with any of their colors. Walls, furnitures, home decor … the ceiling is the limit to what you can paint in your home really (leave paint to kids and you will see they would find things to paint that you would have not think about … like your dog!) so yeah the dog is the limit I would say.

Names of colors are also very important. Brown, orange, green … those are the color experiences of the past. But when your friends enter your home and are in awwwww over the color of your staircase you can tell them it’s Gatekeeper’s Lodge with an accent wall of Knotted Ivy … and tell them to wait until they see the “Nan’s Brooch” you used in the guest bathroom.

Behind each color, there is a logic and a tale.

Curator is the gatherer and custodian of colours inspired by Ireland’s native Design Community. This Community, featuring artisans from crafts and design to art, have a key commonality; they all quote Ireland as their colour muse.

Ronnie Graham Ancient Black.

Ronnie Graham began carving in Belfast in 1980, he now lives and works in the west of Ireland. This early introduction to bogoak quickly turned into a passion, and he has been experimenting with the material ever since.

It is the ancient nature of the timber that intrigues Ronnie—a 5,000 year old wood that has been buried and preserved in the extensive bog-land of Ireland. Some of these ancient trees died due to climatic changes, others due to the farming techniques of stone age ancestors. Thousands of years later they reappear due to turf-cutting, land drainage and occasionally, tidal action.

The bog wood seems to emit a haunting power—the perfect medium for a sculptor’s imagination to work with the material. The colour Ancient Black lives in the layers of Ronnie’s sculptures.

On the journey between Ireland’s castles and cottages, you will encounter a quiet legion of dedicated craftspeople, artists and designers. For each they have a colour that means something special to them; that unlocks the natural world around them. As the custodian of these colours, Curator is proud to display this stunning Irish Design Collection, a beautiful collaboration of native art and design for your home. There has never been a collection quite like Curator.
