NBA all-star and fashion connoisseur Russell Westbrook and Jordan Brand are teaming up with Opening Ceremony for a special collection. The first collab between the three creatives came from Westbrook’s idea to rework classic Air Jordan silhouettes and fabrics for a modern upgrade. He designed the collection with his own personal style in mind, a style that leads the NBA in both scoring and being fashionable. “I liked the idea of doing something with bold color patterns and adventurous silhouettes, and I’m excited to see this collection come to life,” Westbrook explained in a press release.
Westbrook’s style off the court is just as fearless as he is on the court. He takes fashion seriously whether he’s on the red carpet or at a post-game conference, and you’ll often see him among fashion’s elite when he’s not with his teammates. Statement glasses, mixed prints, and daring choices make up Westbrook’s wardrobe when he’s not playing basketball. The upcoming collection with Opening Ceremony isn’t his first rodeo in designing, as he has already collaborated with Barney’s and Tumi. The capsule will be more geared towards an athletic fashionista, with fresh updates on Air Jordan classic pieces.
The Oversized Hoodie is guaranteed to be a standout item with its dropped shoulders, ribbed cuffs and hems, and neon green drawstrings. Another product to get excited about is a heavyweight woven overcoat decorated in low-key stripes and neon green detailing. The collection with also include a color blocked track jacket and matching pants, a sweatpant-trouser mix, and more sweatshirts and tees. The sporty themed clothing, in all of its black and neon green glory, are going to become your fall and winter essentials. Russell Westbrook’s Opening Ceremony x Jordan Brand Holiday 2019 is available now in New York, LA, and Tokyo. Starting December 5th, it will be available through Nikelab.
