Landmark Vineyard was founded in 1974 by a group that includes Damkaris Deere Ford who happens to be the great-great-granddaughter of John Deere, inventor of the first steel plow! Wowza! Over the years, they worked hard to perfect their vineyard as well as the wine they were selling. Essentially selling Chardonnay at first, in 2014 they released their first Overlook Pinot Noir.
So, how does the magic happen?
“Landmark uses the most time and labor-intensive techniques to produce our wines. Grapes are aged in French oak barrels, where naturally occurring wild yeasts ferment the juice. This creates complex, aromatic wines with deep, expressive flavors.”
Sourcing their grapes from the finest vineyards in California, including Sonoma, Monterey, and Santa Barbara Counties, they aim to produce wines that capture the uniqueness of the region, appellation, and at the pinnacle, a single vineyard. If you enjoy a nice glass of wine with a home-cooked meal or night out with your friends, you may want to take a look at what Landmark Vineyard has to offer. They also offer wine tasting! Don’t be shy, and immerse yourself in a world of wine!
